Beth at Work:

Beth helps groups focus on their shared purpose and vision in order to achieve lofty results. She has a knack for keeping group interactions efficient and productive while injecting humor to keep meetings from becoming tedious. She also excels at the behind-the-scenes work of keeping project participants, tasks and documents organized.

Beth is known for her capacity to make technical topics understandable to non-technical audiences, and enjoys helping others gain that skill and other effective communication skills.

WORK HISTORY:  Beth began her career as a Civil Engineer with the US Bureau of Reclamation, working on design and construction management for dams and other water management facilities. She discovered an aptitude for project management during major dam safety modifications on 5 Colorado dams, where she successfully integrated the interests of Reclamation design and construction experts, other government agencies, the public, and the media. Her success on those projects led Beth to a role as a program manager for dam safety activities within Reclamation and other Department of the Interior bureaus.

EDUCATION: Beth earned Bachelor’s degrees in Math from Augustana College (Illinois) and in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, and a Master’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado (Denver).  She is a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado and a Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute.

CONNECTIONS:  Beth has been a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) since college. A past President of the Rocky Mountain SWE Section, she has made presentations for a number of national SWE conferences.  Beth is also an active member of Toastmasters International, winning the speech evaluation contest for a 3-state district multiple times, and serving a 2-year term on their International Board of Directors.
